I think that it's more than that James. IT IS the mobile element of course (I miss Sal's communiques from all over the world and Lisa moaning about her car), but it's also the ability to reply at length (as we are doing here) and to debate an issue properly. To have RSS feeds from 'followed' and 'followers' too - I really miss that. And of course, the RSS feeds allowed the virtuous circle of image >> Flickr (whatever) >> RSS >> Jaiku >> comments from viewer.
Perhaps if you do go for it Lils (@lils??) you should include a native photo uploader too (like Twitpics) and audio potential (which we discussed brielfly on Saturday) ... Do you need any financial support from the team?

i think that the issue Kevin had was that we were presenting a Mobile Learning conference/workshop and a trext wall HAD been set up and all sorts of other good stuff. But the standard issue welcome had suggested that delegates should turn their mobile phones off.
We laughed at the time but it does show a little of the left v right hand theories of mushroom propogation.
Like the time that the principal of a £500,000 MoLeNET project told the newly taken-over (sorry - merged) college staff (and I paraphrase and no offence is intended) "there will be no mobile phones allowed in THIS college"

Because the amount of friends/colleagues using Jaiku has dropped off - it has become a much less useful tool. As James says, what is the differcne between a discussion on Moodle? Well - not everyone has a Moodle and not everyone has access to other people's moodle (if they do have one) - so both Twitter and Jaiku win that one. - Jaiku keeps conversations in much better order than either Twitter or Moodle - The RSS feeds allowed me to learn from the feeds of others - I didn't get as much spam from Jaiku as I do from Twitter
